Who you are booking. You are booking time with Cameron Moore, herbalist and nutritionist, founder of H'Urban Apothika, the herbal line whose formulas he develops and produces himself. He also founded Beyond Vegan Cafe and #JUICEBAE. His knowledge of these plants comes from years of self-directed study of traditional herbal practice and from formulating and working with the herbs directly, day in and day out.

Cameron holds no licence, certification, or academic degree in herbalism, nutrition, dietetics, or medicine, and he does not claim one. He is not a licensed physician, he is not licensed by the state as a healing arts practitioner, and he is not a registered dietitian. What he has is practice, not paper, and he would rather you knew that going in than found out later.

What this session is. Traditional herbalism and food education. Cameron will talk with you about what you eat, how you live, and what you want to change. He will explain plants: what they are, how people have traditionally used them, how they are prepared, and how they taste. He will point you toward foods, juices and whole-herb formulas, and tell you the order he would bring them in and why. You can ask him anything about a plant.

What this session is not. It is not medical care. It is not a diagnosis. It is not a treatment. It is not a prescription. He will not tell you what is wrong with you, and he will not tell you to stop, start, or change any medication a doctor has prescribed. If you ask him to, he will say no. Herbal services in California are alternative and complementary to the healing arts the state licenses. They sit alongside your doctor, not instead of your doctor. Keep your doctor. Tell your doctor what you are taking.

The tradition this comes from. Cameron works in a Western herbal and African-diaspora food tradition, shaped by Dr. Sebi's approach to food and by the lineage teachers H'Urban Apothika is built on. That tradition holds that the body does better when it is fed whole plants, given water, and helped to eliminate. This is a traditional and philosophical framework, not a scientific or medical one. Much of what Cameron will tell you about a plant comes from historical herbal practice, some of it centuries old, and has not been tested in clinical trials. When something is traditional use, he will say so. You should weigh it as exactly that.

What could go wrong. Plants are not automatically safe because they are plants. Some of the herbs in our line genuinely interact with prescription drugs, some are not for pregnancy, some are not for children, and some have a limit on how long you should take them. This is the reason the intake form asks what medications you take and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Please answer those two honestly, even if the rest you would rather skip. If you leave them blank Cameron will still talk to you. He will just have to be more general, and you will get less out of the hour.

If you ever have a reaction to something (a rash, stomach upset, anything that worries you), stop taking it and contact a doctor. If it is an emergency, call 911. Do not call us first.

Money. Sessions are paid at booking. Reschedule or cancel at least 24 hours ahead and we will move it or refund it. Inside 24 hours, or a no-show, the session is used.
